I can remember somewhere in my early days, when one of the ’sisters of pain and suffering’ dope slapped me and remarked, “You know, there’s a good reason why God made you with only one mouth, but two ears. You should speak and listen in those proportions.”

I always try to remember that when I’m in social situations and I try and fight the urge to speak and sit back some and just listen.

This is good advise for business and life in general and it has special application as we dip our toes in social networking. Twitter is a good example of this. One of the great uses of a tool like Twitter is a way to efficiently track what’s going on.
