Here I sit in our New offices, in a New year, and after two weeks of spring-like weather, watching the New snow fall…
Recently, we have been privileged with the opportunity to work for some ‘rock star’ clients, with some ‘rock star’ partners to create some ‘rock star’ work. Funny how that works out! Special thanks to our clients and business partners in these exciting endeavors.
Our New Year’s resolution in 2008 is to send out one of these missives each quarter. We hope you like this first effort.
CommAREus Helps Build a Website that
Wins Prestigious MITX Award
Kel & Partners, a full service advertising agency, was selected as a winner in the category of Viral Marketing for the Annual MITX (Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange) Awards.
BicBacSM was created as an animated parody of business relationships and challenges, for its client, Centive. Without having to spend any money on a media buy, Centive successfully leveraged BicBac’s viral approach as a humorous way to increase awareness, generate revenue, generate quality leads, drive registration and increase its customer base.
The MITX Awards are the largest awards competition in the country that recognizes achievements in the development and implementation of interactive technologies. The ceremony was attended by more than 800 industry professionals held on November 8th at the Boston Copley Place Marriott.
The Parts of the Project that CommAREus Produced:
- Created the Flash-based website from the client’s design:
Received a Photoshop file from the client and created a ‘pixel perfect’ reconstruction of the design in Flash.
- Flash/XML Integration:
Did Flash video integration and created the Flash video player. The video player is XML based which allows for easy updates.
- Flash/PHP Integration:
The site calls on a PHP script that allows users to sign up via email when a new video clip is made available. and share clips via email with friends.
- Created the Animation:
CommAREus created all the animation, including the animation of the BicBac logo. (We did not produce the animated videos, but we did optimize them for the web and integrate them into Flash.)

American Well Launches Website to Revolutionize Healthcare
The doctor will see you now…on your webcam
American Well’s vision is nothing short of revolutionizing the way that healthcare is provided in the United States. Starting in 2008, they will be launching a website that will make it possible to talk to, and receive care, from a doctor via the internet.
Using this highly interactive system, patients will be able to confer with specialists right from the comfort of their homes. Physicians will benefit from this system too, as they will be able to practice medicine where, and when they want, and be able to create some needed balance in their lives.
This is actually a ‘triple win’ situation. In addition to patients and doctors benefiting from this new approach, health plans will see a decrease in the cost of patient care and increase in consumer health and satisfaction.
